Day 1:Hanoi - Ha Giang - Road transfer

Breakfast at hotel. Tour guide and driver pick you up at the hotel. Transfer to Ha Giang though Son Nam District of Tuyen Quang province. Enjoy natural landscape and green fields, palm hill and villages. Passing Tuyen Quang town, you can visit village of black Tay minority. Arrive Ha Giang town in the late afternoon you’ll arrive at Me village - a hometown of Tay people. Remainder of the day for wandering to peaceful village and having dinner and spend the night in a family’s stilt house.

Explore Fairy Mountain which is one of the stunning highlights in Ha Giang

Located near the location of the Bac Sum, Quan Ba or Co Tien Mountain (Mount Fairy poetry) Ha Giang is also one of the most worthy destinations when it comes to the journey to conquer the Dong Van Stone Plateau. From the 4C highway location, 40 km from Ha Giang City and the passage through the town of Tam son, you will easily get to see the double mountain picture like the woman’s chest. It was the reason why everyone feels a little bit enlightened and surprised by the magic beauty of nature. Day 2:Ha Giang - Dong Van

Today, you will need to buy a permit to travel to some places in Ha Giang,
After that, we continue to conquer the stunning passes, the rolling mountains, and valleys. We will stop at the small mountain town of Tam Son for lunch.
After lunch, we visit Lung Cam village and a Hmong palace that belonged to the powerful Vuong family. The palace was used as a store for opium and weapons and offers a glimpse into the life of Hmong royalty in a different era. After independence, the palace was evacuated in 1950, and the descendants of this influential family now live in France and Canada.
We continue our trip down the sweeping roads and arrive in Dong Van at around 18:00.
Have dinner at a local restaurant and stay overnight in the hotel in Dong Van.

Admiring the beauty of Ha Giang from the northernmost Lung Cu Flag Tower

Lung Cu Flag Tower has long been a sacred image in the heart of every Vietnamese land. It is known as a national flagpole located at the top of Lung Cu (the Dragon mountain). It takes 389 stone steps to go up to the top of the flagpole and you will then have a fantastic chance to admire the terrific beauty of the panoramic Dong Van stone as a masterpiece of creativity. Not only witnessing the beauty of the scenery but also learning some interesting stories about this area.

Day 3:Dong Van - Ma Pi Leng Pass – Boat Trip on River - Meo Vac – Tam Son

Visit Ma Pi Leng pass, transfer to Tam Son

Have breakfast at your hotel in Ha Giang. If lucky enough, you are in Dong Van on Sunday morning, you visit the local market, where local ethnic groups gather. Visiting the market is a great chance for you to walk around the crowd, witness the trade market of buffalos, cows, and chickens... and see the colorful traditional ethnic clothes.
After exploring this place and enjoying the incredible views here, we get to the most spectacular roads in the whole of Vietnam: Ma Pi Leng pass. Located 2000 meters above the sea, Ma Pi Leng Pass clings to the side of the undulating mountains, giving unrivaled views of the valleys and terraced hemp fields. Take boat trip on Nho Que river for pictures of the rock and mountain here.
We zigzag down into Meo Vac Valley for lunch. Relax, then return to Tam Son. Stay overnight in Tam Son town

Note: If you miss the Sunday market in Dong Van, a trip to Lui Market can be arranged depending on the departure date.

Ma Pi Leng Pass

With the rough terrain and superb scenery, Ma Pi Leng Pass is the highlight of the Ha Giang motorbike loop. Called the King of All Passes in Vietnam due to being the most rugged, this 20-km road is a part of the so-called Happiness Road connecting Ha Giang City with the Dong Van District and Meo Vac Town. It is such a narrow road hung on a cliff that it will take your breath away. Building it was so dangerous that some people died during the construction, which took over two years to complete. The pass goes through towering cliffs at Ma Pi Leng Peak at an altitude of 2,000 meters. There is an imposing gorge created by the distance between the pass and Nho Que River at the bottom.

Tu San Canyon and Nho Que River

From above, you can also have the chance to see the Tu San Canyon lying beyond the creek and the “sleeping beauty” Nho Que River. The river actually originates from Van Nam province, China and it goes a long way to Dong Van and Meo Vac towns in Ha Giang Vietnam. The river calmly flows and bends through the foot of mountain ranges. It seems to add more roman to the picture of the scenery of Ma Pi Leng Pass. If you are lucky, you can catch the sight of the locals slowly riding a boat through the stream of Nho Que River. Continue to drive until the end of the pass, near Meo Vac town, you will reach Trang Huong Bridge, from which you can find the way to approach Nho Que boat station. Here, you can enjoy the boat riding on the river.

From the moment we were picked up, we knew we would have fun. Great sense of humour, great with all the family. And what a tour. We did a customized package with contact initially from the Facebook page and then via WhatsApp. What we wanted to do was not part of the tours but they managed to fit it in. Great food. An amazing home stay. A great experience all round. Highly recommended.
