Experience overnight train from Hanoi to Sapa

The overnight train from Hanoi to Sapa is one of the most popular experiences which tourists often seek for when planning a trip to this mountainous destination. Trains operate between Hanoi and Lao Cai station, about 35 km from Sapa. They leave Hanoi at 10pm each day and they take from 7.5 to 8.5 hours to reach Lao Cai. From this station, it is more than another hour of driving to reach Sapa town.

Day 1:Transfer to Sapa – Trek to Tavan - Giang Ta Chai

Admire the Muong Hoa valley, trekking through ethnic villages of Ta Van, Giang Ta Chai

Arrive in Lao Cai around 5.30 am. We will take 1hr bus ride uphill to the beautiful town ofSapa. The ride gives you a glimpse of the stunning vistas and impressive rice terraces. Upon arrival in Sapa Town we have breakfast in local restaurant and prepare for a great trek down to the picturesque valley of Muong Hoa. We will walk on small paths and trails to reach Tavan Village then trek through Bamboo Forest to Giang Ta Chai village where you will have unique homestay experience among hill tribe people. Picnic lunch on the way. Dinner and overnight in the local house.

Hike to explore Giang Ta Chai Village

Giang Ta Chai village is home to the Red Dzao who wear plain black trousers and a long black tunic with embroidered cuffs and lapels. To trek to Giang Ta Chai, you will set off on an 18km trek through terraced rice paddies, bamboo forest and stunning waterfalls. Red Zao minority people are the second biggest group of hill minority people in Sapa in Vietnam. Red zao minority people in Giang Ta Chai village in Sapa in Vietnam wear very colorful traditional costumes. In Giang Ta Chai villagein Sapa in Vietnam, travelers also can visit wonderful waterfall as well.

Day 2:Trek to Hau Thao – Su Pan Village

Visit Supan on the way back to Sapa. Take a rest before comeback Hanoi

We will have breakfast in the local house before embarking upon another 1/2 day of adventure. Today we will trek across mountains, terraces before moving on to Supan where you will meet the driver transfer back to Sapa. Check-in the hotel and have lunch at the local restaurant. Free for leisure and visit Sapa town in the afternoon. Transfer to Lao Cai for overnight train back to Ha Noi. (4 person/cabin, soft sleeper)

From the moment we were picked up, we knew we would have fun. Great sense of humour, great with all the family. And what a tour. We did a customized package with contact initially from the Facebook page and then via WhatsApp. What we wanted to do was not part of the tours but they managed to fit it in. Great food. An amazing home stay. A great experience all round. Highly recommended.
